A domain authorization code (Auth Code or an EPP Code) provides an extra level of security for the domain name registration. This code is unique to each domain name and is assigned by the registrar at the time of registration.

To move/transfer a domain from one domain registrar to another, you will require an Auth Code/EPP code.

If you are transferring the domain name to a new registrar, your new registrar asks for an EPP code to complete the domain transfer process. You will get the EPP code/Auth code at your existing domain registrar.
